This First Responder Guide specifically addresses the Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Cell. While systems installed on these vehicles are common to traditional GM vehicles, some components are different and may affect how a rescue is performed. This guide provides an overview on how the hydrogen fuel cell system operates and describes how to identify the Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Cell vehicle. It also identifies the location of hydrogen sensors, key fuel cell components and how they operate. The method of disabling the propulsion system, air bag deployment and disabling 12 volt electrical and high voltage current flow is provided. In addition, the "Do NOT Cut" zones are provided by showing where the airbags, hydrogen fuel and/or high voltage is located.
