The power of knowledge. GM STC creates a performance-based curriculum that puts that power into the hands of service technicians and helps them to achieve their professional learning goals. The curriculum is designed to realign service technician training utilizing the latest in training technology to reduce redundancy, time away from the job, and warranty costs, to improve CSI, and to support the GM goal to “Fix it right…the first time.”

The curriculum services a dual purpose. Service technicians can pursue either or both of the following:

  • Their dealer's Minimum Divisional Service Training Standards

  • The requirements for achieving GM Master Technician Certification

Listed below are the 13 curriculum areas of the GM STC program. Service technicians can follow their desired path(s), which can vary slightly among divisions.

Engine Repair Engine Performance
Automatic Transmission/Transaxle Diesel Engine Performance
Steering and Suspension Manual Drivetrain and Axle
Brakes Body Structural Repair*
Electrical/Electronics Systems Mechanical/Electrical Body Repair
Heating, Ventilation, and
Air Conditioning (HVAC)

*This training is offered through GM approved suppliers, not by GM STC.
