The GM STC certification programs reward and recognize service technicians who demonstrate superior knowledge and a strong commitment to training. The programs include Master Technician Certification and World Class Technician status.

To achieve Master Technician Certification, service technicians complete a one-day performance based assessment that uses knowledge acquired from the their Training Path courseware to test their ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and identify vehicle faults. The benefits to service technicians for participating in this program include:

  • The personal satisfaction of gaining knowledge and demonstrating technical ability

  • Recognition as a respected resource in the dealership for having completed the Training Path courseware courses and assessment

  • Award of a certificate and patch, which can be proudly displayed

  • Recognition of achievement within the GM Mark of Excellence Professional Service Guild

A Preparation Guide can also be downloaded during enrollment for the assessment.

World Class Technician status is the ultimate achievement for GM service technicians. A service technician can achieve GM World Class Technician status in two areas: Mechanical and Body. Both can be achieved when a service technician successfully completes all related training and the appropriate Master Technician Certifications.
